Mrs. Zelphia Thomas Wright, age 84, of Calhoun. Died Thursday June 5th at her residence following a sudden attack.
Mrs. Wright was born in Gordon County, April 6, 1924. Daughter of the late Oscar Willis and Ida Lou Fite Thomas. Prior to her retirement she was employed at the Calhoun Times. She was a member of the New Zion Baptist Church. Zelphia loved to work in her yard and was a member of the Belmont Baptist Church Quilting Club. She was preceded in death by her sons, Jack McRay Greeson in 1978 and Terry Lamar Greeson in 1984. Her brothers, Jack, Richard, and Grethal Thomas and sister, Mary Ida Chadwick.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Zelda and Scott Gregg of Calhoun. Two brothers, Willis Thomas of Dalton and James Thomas of Calhoun. One sister, Kitty Craven of Cumming, Ga.. Six grandchildren, Trey Crocker, Tatum Crocker, Shane Greeson, Steven Greeson, Tara Caylor, and James Townsend. Eight grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday June 7th at 1 PM from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Lamar Bearden and Rev. Jeff Hawkins officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers severing include Rembert Smith, Roger Smith, Scott Chadwick, Jeff Craven, and Dennis Thomas.
The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 PM Friday evening at the funeral home.
