Zeb Thompson, age 88 of Calhoun died Saturday evening, August 28 at his residence following an unexpected illness.
He was born in Gordon County, October 19, 1921, son of the late John Andrew Thompson and Maude McKinley Sitton Thompson. Also he was preceded in death by his wife, Mozelle Black Thompson, June 13, 2007. He had owned and operated Zeb's T.V. and Electronics shop beginning in 1951.
He was a World War II veteran, US Army, a member of the Calhoun Elks Club, the American Legion, the local Sportsman's Club, and active in the local Senior Center. He was a member and Past Master of the Coosawattee Masonic Lodge # 306, the Saint John's Commandry and other Masonic bodies, and the First Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son Tracy Thompson and his wife Ellen of Sugar Valley; one daughter, Ann Rodriguez and her husband Antonio Rodriguez-Bolanos of Charlotte, North Carolina; one brother, Mack Thompson and his wife, Emily of Calhoun; one sister, Adeline Ralston of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Antonio Rodriguez Bolanos, Andres Rodriguez Bolanos, Tracy Aaron Thompson, and Stephanie Ellen Thompson; one great grandchild, Harmony Mozelle Thompson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, August 31 at the First Baptist Church of Calhoun with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating, Barry Bryant and Carolyn Thompson will have charge of music, and burial will be in Chandler Cemetery. Coosawattee Masonic Lodge is in charge of graveside rites. Active pallbearers are Calvin Watts, Gary Ralston, Terry Childers, Larry Black, Terry Black, and Johnny Thompson. Honorary escort is Coosawattee Masonic Lodge # 306 F. and A.M. They are asked to meet at the church at 10:45 AM, Tuesday.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM, Monday.
