Yvonne Gussie Fuquea

Yvonne Gussie Smith Fuquea, age 77 of Calhoun, passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 in Gordon Hospital. Yvonne was born on July 28, 1936 in Gordon County. She was the daughter of the late Hope Smith and Ruby Parks Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Cannonball” Fuquea; two grandsons, Brandon and Stephen Nix; brother, Warren Smith; and sister, Frances Nichoels. She is survived by her son, Kenny Fuquea and his wife Kelly of Calhoun; two daughters, Kelly Brittain and her husband David of Calhoun, and Kim Nix and her husband Scott of Dalton; sister, Robbie J. Cox of Calhoun; two brothers, Carter Smith of Cartersville, and Anthony Smith of Calhoun; grandchildren, Owens Fuquea, Lacy Fuquea, Shade Nix, Caleb Nix, and Turner Brittain. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00am on Thursday, July 10th at the Calhoun First Baptist Church with Dr. Bert Vaughn and Dr. John Barber officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving will be Heath Thomason, Trent Thomason, Mike Lee, Richard Greeson, Heath Smith, Michael Roach, Mitch Butler, and Chance Hicks. The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home. In addition to flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Calhoun First Baptist Church.
