Wray Buchanan

Dr. Wray Buchanan, age 85 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday afternoon at Morning Point Assisted Living. Dr. Buchanan was born in Franklin, TN to the late Carroll Everett Buchanan and Elizabeth Steele Buchanan. Wray was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army during the Korea Era. Wray was a retired Professor Emeritus of Marketing for the University System of Georgia at Kennesaw State University. He was a former Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs of the University System of Tennessee and a Marketing Professor at the University of Georgia. Dr. Buchanan attended Cartersville House of Prayer. Survivors include his wife Barbara H. Buchanan of Calhoun; one daughter, Debbie Harris and her husband Ron of Kingston, GA; one son, Russell Buchanan and his wife Anne of Palmetto, FL; eight grandchildren and eight great grand children also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning May, 19, 2015 at 11 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Rocky Abernathy officiating. Warren Kennedy will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery in Cartersville. Family will receive friends Monday evening May 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
