Willis Brown, age 90 of Sugar Valley, passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at his residence.
Willis was born on April 27, 1929 in Cumberland, Kentucky to the late Anderson Brown and Mae Lewis Brown. In addition to his parents, Willis is also preceded in death by his wife, Roberta Shoupe Brown; daughter, Joyce Brown; and daughter-in-law, Lou Ann Brown. Willis served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, Willis worked as a coal miner for Scotia Coal Company. He was a member of Mount Carmel Church of Jesus Christ.
Willis is survived by: six sons, Lewis Brown of Calhoun, Jack (Connie) Brown of Calhoun, Lester (Brenda) Brown of Cumberland, KY, Carlos Brown of Speedwell, TN, John (Maria) Brown of Calhoun, and David (Caron) Brown of Calhoun; three daughters, Virginia (Carl) Waycaster of Calhoun, Linda McKnight of LaFayette, GA, and Debra (Kenny) Wyatt of Calhoun; brother, Carlos (Sharlene) of Cumberland, KY; twenty six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, September 1st at 1pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Cronan officiating. Burial will follow in Haven of Rest Cemetery with Military Rites being afforded by the Ft. Benning Honor Guard.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and include, Carlos Brown Jr., Chancellor Brown, John Wesley Brown Jr., Mark Waycaster, Cameron Waycaster, Kevin Brown, Zack Brown, Derrick Middleton, Bobby Wyatt, Scott Brown, and Michael Brown.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
