Mrs. Willie Mae "Bill" Dillard, age 91, former resident of Calhoun died Sunday, December 25 in the Grand View Health Center near Jasper. She was born, March 25, 1920 in Gilmer County, daughter of the late Judd Holden and Hattie Johnson Holden. She was preceded in death by her husband, H.D. Dillard in June 1976 and a brother and a sister. She had lived most of her life in Gordon County and was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Ruth Sunday School Class. She had worked as a seamstress for many years with Laura Moore, a local interior decorator, and had worked as a volunteer gray lady at Gordon Hospital. She resided at their family home on College Street in Calhoun for over 50 years. Mrs. Dillard is survived by two sons, Erwin Dillard and his wife, Dorian of Jasper and David Dillard and his wife, Teresa of Dacula; one sister, Cleo McElwee of Woodstock, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 28 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will be in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers are nephews and family friends; they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 PM Wednesday. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
