Mr. William Boyd White age 88, of 1124 Oostanaula Bend Rd. S.W., Calhoun, died Monday Feb. 5th. in Gordon Hosptial following a brief illness.
Mr. White was born in Gordon County on October 19, 1918 son of the late William Marvin White and Ida Boyd White and had spent his entire life here. He was a member and Deacon of the Oostanaula Baptist Church, a retired farmer and was a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a Grandson; Jim White, brothers; Phillip and John and sisters; Pearl. Nellie, Ina, Edna and Willene.
Survivors include his wife Willie Shields White, one son; Jack White and his wife Pat of Calhoun, one daughter and her husband; Letha W. and Terry Nesbitt of Calhoun, two sisters; Ruth Farmer and Mary Farmer both of Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga. four grandchildren; Greg Nesbitt, Cindy Butler, Wendi Murphy and Lisa Traylor and five great-grandchildren; Andrew Nesbitt, David Butler, Harrison Murphy, Hayden Murphy and Jim Traylor.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P. M. Tuesday February 6th. from the Oostanaula Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Langston and Rev. Larry Hogan officiating. Interment will follow in the Gordon Memorial Gardens.
On Tuesday the body will be carried to the Church to lie instate from 1:00 until the funeral hour.
Pallbearers are deacons of Oostanaula Baptist Church and include Dude Bailey, Terry Nesbitt, Ted Dutton, Tommy Blalock, Billy Mitchell, Joel Murphy and Brian Grogan and they are asked to meet at the Church at 12:45 P.M. on Tuesday.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. today (Monday) until 8:00 P.M.
Billy and Judy Mitchell and Hope Grogan will have charge of the Music.
