William "Billy" Shaw

Monday, July 06, 2009 Mr. William “Billy” Shaw, age 78, of Cartersville and formerly of Calhoun. Died Sunday afternoon July 5th in the Specialty Hospital of Floyd Medical Center. Billy was born in Gordon County, November 17, 1930. Son of the late George and Sudie Holsomback Shaw. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the United States Army. Billy was employed with Lockheed Aircraft for 35 years prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his wife; Mamie Woods Shaw. He is survived by his Two sons; William Mark Shaw of Cartersville, Daniel Eugene Shaw of Rydal. One sister; Sue Lane Gilliand of Dalton and one grandson; Zeke Shaw. Step Grandchildren; Jarred and Tobie Collins, Step Great Grandchildren Grace and Ashton Collins and Kady Shefield. Nieces and nephews also survive. Grave Side services will be conducted Wednesday July 8, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. in the Blackwood Springs Cemetery with Rev. Ken Conner conducting the graveside rites. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Pallbearers serving include; Pat Bell, Tobie Collins, Jarred Collins, Mickey Reed, and Johnny Jennings.
