William Brooks “Billy” Lowe, age 97, of Fairmount, GA, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2023, at AdventHealth Gordon.
Billy was born on October 30, 1925, and was a life-long resident of Fairmount, GA. He was a graduate of Fairmount High School and made his career working at Lockheed Aircraft in Marietta, GA for 36 years. He was a member of Fairmount United Methodist Church and served over 30 years as church treasurer. Billy served numerous terms as a City Councilman for Fairmount. He loved vegetable gardening, hunting, fishing and especially spending time with his family and friends. Billy was preceded in death by his father, John I. Lowe; mother, Bob Roberts Lowe; wife, Betty Jean Carney Lowe who passed away in 1996.
Billy is survived by his wife of 23 years, Irene Lowe of Fairmount; his son, David Lowe of Eatonton; stepson, Gary Yeager and spouse, Rafael Guzman Yeager of Fairmount; brother, Jack I. Lowe of Acworth; and many close friends in Fairmount.
The family would like to give special thanks to Billy’s caregivers: Renee Childers, Kathy Childers, Jamie Collis and Marlon Lowe.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2023, from 6 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
Billy will lie in state at Fairmount United Methodist Church on Sunday, April 16, 2023, from 2 PM until 3 PM.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at 3 PM from the Fairmount United Methodist Church with Reverend Barbara Davidson officiating. Steve Brannon and Kitty Scott will give the Eulogy. Billy will be laid to rest in the family plot at Johnson Cemetery in Fairmount.
Pallbearers serving include Steve Brannon, Izzy Denney, Jerry Mauldin, Billy Joe Johnson, Tyler Leamer and Lamar Johnson.
