William "Woot" Kirby

Mr. William T. "Woot" Kirby age 79 of the Red Bud Community, passed away Monday, May 16 at Calhoun Health Care. Woot was born, February 18 , 1932 in Gordon County, son of the late Sam Kirby and Pearl Ingle Kirby. He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters, Henry Kirby, Fain Kirby, Raymond Kirby, Maggie Cronan, Bessie Pack, and Stella Ruth Boswell. He is survived by his wife, Betty DeFreese Kirby, one step son, Fain Walraven both of Red Bud, and one brother, Harbin Kirby of Resaca. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 19 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Lamar Bearden, Jimmie Timms and Junior Craig officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Doug Gilbert, Danny Cronan, David DeFreese, Starling Kirby, Marvin Pack, and Michael Kirby. Honorary pallbearers include Truett Moss and the staff of Calhoun Health Care. Allen and Carol Robertson will have charge of music. They are asked to meet at the funeral home at 2:45 PM Thursday.
