William W. "Deacon" Balliew

Mr. William W. "Deacon" Balliew, age 73 of Calhoun, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at his residence. Deacon was born November 22, 1937 in Calhoun, GA. Son of the late Bill and Ida Bell Graham Balliew. Deacon was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Rotary, and served on several Boards of Charitable Organizations. He was the founder of the Winner's Club and formerly employed by Gordon County Juvenile Court. Deacon also served in the United States Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Mull Balliew and two brothers, Larry and Toby Balliew. Survivors include; Two sons; Troy and Glenn Balliew. One sister; Deborah Walraven. Three grandchildren; Jake, Emily and Katie Balliew. One great-grandchild; Wyatt Balliew. Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00p.m., Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Brannon officiating. Michelle Taylor will be in charge of music. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers include; Scotty Harmon, Vann Harmon, Stacy James, Tony Reynolds, Billy Byford, Billy Byford, Jr., Ronald Balliew and Randy Balliew. Honorary Pallbearers will be past and present Winner's Club members as well as Geoff Rohrs.
