William Robert “Bob” Hunt, age 85 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at his residence.
Bob was born on August 9, 1927 in Gordon County. He was the son of the late John Moore Hunt and Effie Mae Brown Hunt. He was a member of the Meadowdale Baptist Church and served in the United States Army during WWII. He was also a member of the Oothcalooga Masonic Lodge, Yaarab Shrine and the Echota-Van Shrine Club, and was a retired carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Evelyn Lowe, Johnnie Claekum and Betty Hunt.
Survivors include: his wife, Vera Jane Hunt of Calhoun; one son, Anthony Hunt and his wife Nancy of Calhoun; one daughter, Pam Stephens and her husband Travis of Calhoun; one sister, Kathleen McFather and her husband John of Calhoun; four grandchildren, Todd Stephens and his wife Donia, Julie Reece and her husband Ray, Shanna McEntyre and her husband Barry and Janey Hunt; and nine great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, July 18th at 2:00pm at Meadowdale Baptist Church with the Dr. Stephen Pearson officiating. Travis Stephens will have charge of music. Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery with great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 17th from 5:00 until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
