William H. "Billy" Neal

Mr. William H. “Billy” Neal, age 73, of Calhoun, passed away Sunday morning September 8th at his residence. Billy was born February 17, 1940 in Gordon County, son of the late Herbert Neal and Edna Seritt Neal. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the Belmont Baptist Church and the Sportsman Sunday School Class. After his retirement from UPS, he enjoyed golf, attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities, and traveling with friends. Billy was Past Master of the Sonora Masonic Lodge #221, member of the Scottish Rite, the Yaarab Shrine Temple, and the American Legion. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Wylene Neal Lambert and Shelvy Neal Russell and two brothers in law, Eddie Taylor and Billy Taylor. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Carolyn Taylor Neal, two daughters, Chris Neal Tarpley and Joanna Neal Fincher and her husband Randall all of Calhoun. Two grandchildren, Caroline Tarpley and Will Fincher also survive, as well as nieces and nephews. A celebration of Billy’s life will be conducted Tuesday September 10th at 1pm at Belmont Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Sims officiating. Music will be arranged by Donnie Nesbitt. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 4 until 8pm at the funeral home. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Gordon Hospital Foundation designated for the Cancer Indigent Care Fund, P.O. Box 304, Calhoun, Georgia 30703.
