William Gordon "Bill" Robertson

Monday, December 20, 2010 Mr. William Gordon "Bill" Robertson, age 93 of Calhoun died at 3:18 AM Sunday, December 19 in Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital. Bill was born, December 25, 1916 in Gordon County, son of the late Thomas Gordon Robertson and Dane Jackson Robertson. He also was preceded in death by a son, William Gordon Robertson, Jr., two brothers, Tom and Matt Robertson, and two sisters, Mollie Kelly and Inez Holland. Bill had served as Gordon County Tax Commissioner for 28 years. Later he was the owner-operator of Shepherd's Restaurant and Shepherd's Motel from 1972 until the present. He was a World War II Veteran, US Army Air Corps; member of the Calhoun Rotary Club, past president and Paul Harris Fellow; a member of the Calhoun Elks Lodge #1883; a Mason, Shriner, and member of other Masonic Bodies. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Calhoun. Bill is survived by his wife, Jimmie P. Robertson; two sons, Tommy Robertson and Mathew Robertson and his wife, Mandy; four grandchildren, Christina, Stephanie, William and Matt Robertson; one great grandson, Dylan Robertson; sister in law, Mary Jean Greene all of Calhoun; nieces and nephews, Bill Kelly of Rome, Jean Jones of Calhoun, Faye Camp of Kennesaw, Judi Gazaway and John Gazaway of Plainville, David Greene and Neal Greene. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 21 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. William H. Camp officiating. Burial will be in Fain Cemetery. Past and present members of the Calhoun Rotary Club will serve as honorary escort. The Robertson family will receive friends from 4:00 until 7:00 PM, Monday at Thomas Funeral Home.
