Monday, July 27, 2009 Mr. Wiley Joseph Moore, age 74 and lifetime resident of Gordon County passed away July 22, 2009. He was the son of the late Ernest and Kathleen Moore and was preceded in death by his sister Margaret Moore Burdette and a brother Toby Moore. Mr. Moore was a retired brick mason and was a retired employee of the City of Calhoun. He enjoyed playing in golf, trout fishing, working in his yard and garden ,and spending time in the North Georgia Mountains. He was a member of the Pine Chapel United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Glenda Lewis Moore, daughter, Julie Moore, son and daughter in law, Joey and Amy Moore; granddaughter Abigail Moore and a brother, James Moore all of Calhoun. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Wiley Moore will be conducted at 12:00 P.M., Monday, July 27 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverends Brian Clark and Al Turnell officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Chapel Cemetery with the Reverend Wesley Hunt in charge of graveside services. Pallbearers are Brent Burdette, Kyle Moore, Jerry Quinn, Dale McKinney, Tom Shanahan, Joe Campbell, and Jerry Clements. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Hudgins, Ernest (Cotton) Gentry, Jack Poarch, Buzzy McMillan, Edward Lewis, Ed Weldon, Bill Green, Billy Bearden, Jerome Henderson, Wes White and Joe Campbell. In addition to flowers, donations may be made to the Pine Chapel Cemetery Fund, c/o Grover Causby, 131 Fairway Drive, Dalton, GA. 30720.
