Mr. Wilborn Earl “Nig” Johnson, age 83, of Calhoun. Died Friday evening December 28th in Redmond Regional Hospital. Nig was born in Fulton County, February 14, 1924. He was retired from American Freight as a truck driver and was also retired from K-Mart. He was a member of Damascus Baptist Church, and was a Mason and Shriner. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Nanny Jean Johnson in March 2006 as well as a son Ray Johnson and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include one son, Vince Johnson of Calhoun. One daughter and son in law, Dianne and Dwight (Tuse) Mallernee of Blue Ridge, Ga. One brother, Herbert Johnson of Florida. Five grandchildren, Carla Trammell and her husband Wesley of Dawsonville, Missi Brewer and her husband Chad of Maryville,Ga., Chelsea Johnson of Fairmount, Caleb Johnson of Fairmount, and Tyler Johnson of Sugar Valley. Four great-grandchildren, Blaine Thomason, Josh, Jack, and Jace Trammell. Funeral services will be conducted Monday December 31st at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Larry Hogan and Rev. Bill Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 3 until 7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in addition to flowers.
