Wesley Z. Duncan

Wesley Z. Duncan, age 79 of the Scottsville Community died at 9:30 AM, Saturday, November 2 at his residence. Wesley was born, May 5, 1934 in Floyd County, son of the late D.B. Duncan and Henrietta Potts Duncan. Also, he was preceded in death by three brothers, J.T. Duncan, D.B. Duncan, Jr., and Buddy Duncan. He had spent most of his life in Gordon County and was formerly employed by Pliant Corporation. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and was a member of the Welcome Gap Baptist Church. Wesley is survived by one son, Wesley Z. Duncan, Jr. and his wife Tina of Silver Creek; three daughters, Valerie Way and her husband Anthony, Maxine Riddle and her husband, Richie, Karen Whitfield and her husband Tony all of Calhoun; one sister, Maggie Floyd and her husband Wendell of Plainville; five grandchildren, Wesley “Kim” Duncan and his wife, Amanda, Riley Way, Heather Turner and her husband Zack, Mikayla Whitfield, and T.J. Whitfield; four great grandchildren, Dylan Powell, Keith Duncan, Allie Duncan, and Shyla Turner; nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 4 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Ernest Channell officiating; burial will be in Scott Cemetery. Pallbearers are Michael Payne, Jacin Gray, William Channel, Matt Beal, and J.L. Duncan. The Duncan family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home.
