Wayne Claude Davis

Friday, August 04, 2006 Mr. Wayne Claude Davis, Sr., age 63 of Gordon County died at 12:30 PM Thursday, August 3 following an extended illness. Wayne was born, October 28, 1942 in Utica, New York, son of the late, Stanley F. Davis and Hazel L. Laraby Davis. Also, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Ketchum. He had been a resident of Gordon County for over 35 years and was a retired driver for Marco Trucking. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Wayne is survived by one son, Wayne Davis, Jr.; four daughters, Amy Haygood and her husband Scott, Judy Feist and her husband David, Kristi Haygood and her husband Michael, Peggy Tillman and her husband Scott all of Gordon County; one brother, Alfred Davis; and four sisters, Barbara Huffine, Arlene Noble, Maxine Davis, and Mary Lockwood all of New York; grandchildren, Brittany Allen, Christine Haygood, Anastasia Carter, Veronica Carter, Rebeka Davis, Wesley Davis, Austin Tillman, and Megan Townsend. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 6 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Bob Osterle officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM, Saturday and 12 noon to 2:00 PM, Sunday at the funeral home. The men’s Sunday School Class of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church will serve as honorary escort.
