Wanda Sue Thomas Edwards, beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away on October 21, 2023. Born on May 4, 1950, in Calhoun, GA, Sue brought joy and laughter to the lives she touched during her time on this Earth. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her.
Sue a led an admirable life as a dedicated Machine Operator at Shaw Industries. Her commitment to her work was unwavering, and she approached each day with professionalism and diligence. She took great pride in her contributions and built lasting relationships with her colleagues.
Outside of her career, Sue embraced various roles within her community. She was an active member of the Homemaker's Club and devoted countless hours to making a positive impact on those around her. Sue’s warm personality drew people to her, and those who frequented the Farmer's Market often found solace in her company. Her presence at social gatherings was uplifting and comforting – she was truly loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
One of Sue’s passions was canning food. She cherished the process of preserving fruits and vegetables and derived immense joy from sharing the delicious results with others. Sue’s canned goods were not only a testament to her culinary skills but also a reflection of the love and care she poured into everything she did.
Wanda Sue Edwards' memory will forever be treasured by her surviving family members: William N. Edwards, SR (husband), Parrish Dutton (child), Ashley "Shae" Dutton (child), Julia Black (child), Randy Thomas (sibling), Wesley Thomas and his wife Rebecca (sibling), Jerrell Thomas and his wife Tina (sibling), Mavis Love and her husband Mickey (sibling), Houston Dutton (grandchild), Ty Dutton (grandchild), Tanner Dutton (grandchild), Cole Dutton (grandchild), Sarah Dutton (grandchild), James Dutton (grandchild), Kason Black (grandchild), and Trenton Black (grandchild). She will be deeply missed by each and every one of them, as she played a significant role in their lives and provided unwavering support and love.
Sue was predeceased by her father, Dewey Thomas, her mother, Dixie Sue West Godfrey, her sibling Gilbert "Gubber" Boyd, and her sibling Ronnie "Maddog" Thomas. They were undoubtedly waiting to embrace her with open arms as she entered the gates of heaven.
To honor Sue’s life and legacy, visitation services will be held on October 24, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Armuchee, GA. Following the visitation, a funeral service will take place at the same location from 1:00 PM with Reverend Wayne Hopper and Reverend Gary Hibberts officiating. Sue’s final resting place will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation should be made to Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Sue‘s honor.
In closing, let us remember Wanda Sue Edwards for the remarkable individual she was – a beacon of light in her community, a loving mother, wife, and friend. Her infectious spirit and compassionate nature enriched the lives of everyone around her.
