Vivian Janet Mills

Vivian Janet Mills, age 77 of Resaca, passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in Northside Hospital. Vivian was born on December 11, 1940 in Whitfield County to the late Will D. Haley and Ethel Massingale Haley. In addition to her parents, Vivian was also preceded in death by: her husband, Alton Nelson Mills; brother, Jack Haley; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Annelle and Raymond Fair; and brother-in-law, Dale Dempsey. She was a very active member of Hill City Baptist Church. Vivian was also a member of the Silver Sneaker Club, Bluwer Food Center where she was on the Board of Advisors and an active volunteer, the Good Samaritans where she was on the Board of Advisors, Board of Camp New Adventure, a volunteer for the Baptist Association, WMU Director for many years, and was on the Sisters Team for Relay of Life. Prior to her retirement, she was an accounting manager for Brooker Family Dealerships for over 47 years. Vivian is survived by: her son, Terry Mills of Resaca; daughter-in-law, Pam Mills; brother, Bud Haley and his wife Sue of Dalton; four sisters, Katherine Dempsey of Calhoun, Shirley Edgeman and her husband Troy of Sugar Valley, Charlotte Goble and her husband Jerry of Dalton, and Evelyn Parson and her husband Jimmy of Dalton; two granddaughters, Monica Mills and her wife Brittany, and Maci Mills; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Austin and June Mills of Resaca. A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Friday, October 26th at 11 AM from Hill City Baptist Church with Reverend Barry Brock and Rodney Goble officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with nephews serving as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are the Ladies Sunday School Class of Hill City Baptist Church and the Calhoun Fire Department. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
