Virginia Elizabeth Long

Virginia Elizabeth Long, age 82 of Resaca, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN. Virginia was born on July 10, 1936 in Gordon County, GA to the late Floyd Barton and Lucille Davis Barton. In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Kathy Diane Long. Prior to her retirement, Virginia was a Para-Pro at Tolbert Elementary School. She was a member of New Town Baptist Church. Virginia is survived by her husband of 63 years, Hubert Long of Resaca. Funeral Services will be conducted on Sunday, May 19th at 4 PM from New Town Baptist Church with Reverend Walter Hare officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving are: R.V. Greeson, Todd Rutledge, Jerry Long, Eddie Watkins, Sammy King, and Jerry Jackson. Honorary Pallbearers are: David Ingle, Stanford Sisson, Daryl Southerland, and friends and members of New Town Baptist Church. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 PM until the funeral hour at 4 PM at New Town Baptist Church.
