Virginia Phillips Brown

Virginia was born on June 10, 1927 in the Oostanaula Community, daughter of the late Andrew Terrell Phillips and Myrtle Taylor Phillips. In addition to her parents, Virginia was also preceded in death by: three brothers, Joseph Max Phillips, A.T. Phillips, and Richard Phillips; and two sisters, Louise Phillips Blalock and Patsy Phillips Crump. She was a graduate and valedictorian of Oostanaula High School. Virginia spent her career in banking and was retired from Wachovia Bank. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Virginia enjoyed line dancing, clogging, Bingo, and being with her family.

Virginia is survived by: her daughter, Kelley Finnell (Randy) of Harrison, TN; three grandchildren, Corey McEntyre of Waco, TX, Robert McEntyre of Washington DC, and Kacee Walden (Tyler) of Calhoun, GA; two great-grandsons, Colt and Brently Walden; one brother, Thomas Phillips (Pauline) of Rome, GA; sister-in-law, Helen Phillips of Calhoun, GA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 from 2 PM until 4 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 4 PM at Thomas Funeral Home with Chaplain Ryan Stoker officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery. In addition to flowers, the family also suggests making donations to the Gordon County Senior Citizens' Center. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Hospice of Chattanooga and Rosewood Assisted Living for their kind and generous care.  

Pallbearers serving are: Gary Phillips, Kenneth Blalock, Tyler Walden, Jason Finnell, and Chase Marsh.
