Viola Parker Holliday

Viola Parker Holliday, age 72, of Calhoun. Died Sunday afternoon October 16th in Marietta. Viola was born April 16, 1939 in Pickens County. Daughter of the late James and Ida Mae Parker. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was employed by Crown Craft Mills prior to her retirement. As a member of the Scrap Iron Quartet she entertain at the area nursing homes. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Geneva Sucharkzy, and Ludie Dupree her brothers, James Parker, Jr., and Henry Parker. Survivors include her husband, Nathan "Doc" Holliday of Calhoun. One son, Tony Baldwin of Harlan County, Ky.. Four daughters, Winnie Faye Baldwin, Betty Ann Bryant, Brenda Sue Waddell and Debbie "Duck-Duck" Baldwin all of Calhoun. Two brothers, William Parker of Chatsworth and Rev. Clifford Parker of Calhoun. Three sisters, Rhoda Bassett and Priscilla Freestone both of Florida and Dixie Boswell of Calhoun. Nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday October 20th at 1pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Gary Quarles officiating. Burial will follow in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include, Bill Howard, Charles Phipps, Randall Smith, William Baldwin, Tim Parker, Joe Baldwin and Anthony Blackstock. The family will receive friends Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 4 until 8pm.
