Vera Mae Carver

Vera Mae Carver, age 76 of Sugar Valley, passed away on Monday, November 5, 2012 in Gordon Hospital. Vera was born on January 9, 1936 in Floyd County. She was the daughter of the late James William Van Dyke and Edna Carter Van Dyke. Vera was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of the Oostanaula Community. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Clifford Gilbert Carver; two daughters: Melinda Diane Parks and Brenda Carver; one son, Wayne Carver; and three brothers: Charles Van Dyke, James Van Dyke and Howard Van Dyke. Survivors include: one daughter, Kimberly Carver of Sugar Valley; one brother, Earl Van Dyke of Calhoun; one sister, Margaret Mulky of Plainville; four grandchildren: Tammy Couch, Dewayne Couch, Tony Couch and Shelly Carver; seven great-grandchildren: Cody Couch, David Couch, Tiffany Couch, Haley Couch, Morgan Couch, Hannah Jaco and Taylor Jaco; and three great-great grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00pm on Thursday, November 8th from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Rev. Sammy Hall and the Rev. James Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include: Gary Stanfield, Jimmy Stanfield, Billy Wiseman, Terry Van Dyke, Brody Rutledge and Billy Couch. Nephews will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 5 – 8pm on Wednesday, November 7th at the funeral home.
