Mr. Tom H. McEntyre, age 85 of Calhoun died at 1:15 AM, Friday, March 16 at his residence. He was born in Gordon County, son of the late B.T. McEntyre and Emma Hardy McEntyre. Also, the following brothers and sisters, Bradley McEntyre, Aaron McEntyre, Lorraine McEntyre, Ferguson McEntyre, Sally Dell Bowen, and Thelma Wood preceded him in death. He was a lifetime resident of Gordon County; a member of the V.F.W. and the Belmont Baptist Church.
Tom is survived by his wife, Ann G. McEntyre of Calhoun; one son, Mike McEntyre and his wife, Judy of Calhoun; one daughter, Rita Daugherty and her husband, Thomas of Plainville; two sisters, Doris Gravitt and Kathryn Garren of Calhoun; 3 grandchildren, Amy Jones and her husband, Jason, Ben and Mandy McEntyre; and two great grandson, Gavin and Gabe Jones.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday at the Belmont Baptist Church with Dr.John Allen, Reverend Jimmy Timms, and Reverend Jeff Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Gordon Memorial Gardens with Reverend Jack Kennington officiating. Jean Underwood, Linda Walter and Treva Sellers will have charge of music. The body of Mr. McEntyre will lie in state from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Sunday at the church preceding the funeral. Active pallbearers are Ben McEntyre, Louie McEntyre, L.C. Grogan, Jack McEntyre, Larry Harman, Rodney Blalock, Mitchell Allen, and Terry Bowen. They are asked to meet at the church at 12:45 PM Sunday. Honorary pallbearers are Albert Silvers, “Doc” Fletcher, Bobby Draper, the “Scrap Iron” Sunday School Class, and the staff of Countryside Hospice. They are asked to meet at the church at 1:45 PM Sunday.
The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Saturday March 17th.
