Thurman William Owen

Friday, February 13, 2009 Mr. Thurman Owen, age 85, of Calhoun. Died Friday morning February 13th at his residence. Mr. Owen was born in Gordon County August 16, 1923. Son of the late Clyde and Ruby Ferguson Owen. He was a veteran WWII serving in the United States Army. Mr. Owen was employed by Chrysler Corporation for 32 years prior to his retirement and was a former member of Blackwood Springs Baptist Church. His first wife, Hazel Sisson Owen and his second wife, Sallie Collins Owen, preceded him in death. Survivors include his sons; Keith Owen and his wife Donna of Grosse Point, MI., Paul Owen and his wife Sharon of Warren, MI., and Bob Collins and his wife Shirley of Clinton Township, MI. Daughters; Wanda Spagnuolo of Clinton Township, MI., Terry Bryant and her husband Ron of Las Cassas, TN., and Juanita Collins of Clinton Township, MI. Sister; Virginia Harrison of Moultrie and Jean Owen of Valdosta. Thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday February 16th at 11am from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwood Springs Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Bill Knapp, David Droke, Darren Droke, Jordan, Michael, Justin M., and Justin A. Owen. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8pm.
