Thomas Henry "Tommy" Smith

Thomas Henry “Tommy” Smith, age 63, of the Plainville Community, passed away Friday morning January 30th at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Tommy was born June 26, 1951 in Plainville, son of the late Tom Smith and Fannie Edwards Smith. At the time of his death he was the owner of Smith Industrial Services. He was a member and Past Master of the Plainville Masonic Lodge #364 and the Yaarab Shrine, he was the Past Troop Leader of Plainville Boy Scout Troop #47. Tommy attended the Damascus Church of God of Prophecy and taught welding and metal shop at the Adairsville High School. Tommy was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a friend to many and loved working in the community. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Smith. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Josephine Watson Smith, sons, Johnathan Thomas Smith and his wife Kristina of Henry, Tn. and Justin Powell Smith and his wife Charity of Adairsville. Six grandchildren; Isaac Smith and his wife Olivia of Paris, Tn., Autumn Rose Smith of Henry, Tn., Madison Kay Smith of Calhoun, Ga., Noah Smith of Henry, Tn., Melody Smith of Adairsville, Silas Smith of Henry, Tn., one great grandchild, Esmee Smith of Paris, Tn. One brother, Hilliard Nelson Smith and his wife Betty Ann of Plainville, one sister in law, Katherine Smith, nine nephews, Craig Smith, Scott Smith, Thomas Watson Jr., Tim Shaw, Danny Watson, Chris Simpson, Albert Simpson, Earnie Simpson, and Shambin Pledger, seven nieces, Lori Patterson, Andrea Anderson, Linda Hardy, Rhonda Sosbee, Chelsea Pledger Tucker, Samantha Baker and Kimberly Watson. In laws, Norman and Earnestine Shaw of Fountain, Fl., David and Glenda Watson of Shannon, Daniel and Bonnie Watson of Rome and Estaline Pledger of Cedar Bluff, Al. A host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Monday February 2nd at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott Cemetery. Masonic graveside services will be conducted by Plainville Lodge # 364 F&AM. Pallbearers serving include; Justin Smith, Johnathan Smith, Brad Gibbey, Joe Hufstetler, Craig Smith, David Lee, Tim Shaw, and Daniel Watson. Honorary Pallbearers; Isaac Smith, Noah Smith, Chris Simpson, Norman Shaw, David Watson, Silas Smith, and Michael Ayer. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2 until 4pm at the funeral home.
