Thomas H. "Tom" Allen, age 66 of Calhoun died at 2:28 PM, Thursday, July 22 in the National Health Care Center of Fort Oglethorpe.
Tom was born in Gordon County, November 16, 1943, son of the late William Thomas Allen and Christine Holcomb Allen. He had been employed as an environmental health inspector for Whitfield County before retirement. He was an avid hunter, sports enthusiast, and Mason. Also, he was a member, deacon, and choir director at Damascus Baptist Church.
Tom is survived by his wife, Sandra R. Allen of Calhoun; one son, Eric Allen and his wife Carrie of Ringgold; one daughter, Amy Weaver and her husband David of Calhoun; two grandchildren, Bradley Weaver and Isabella Weaver; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 25 at the Damascas Baptist Church with the Reverends Albert Fields and Bill Collins officiating. Reverend Ken Waddell will have charge of graveside services in Fain Cemetery. Active pallbearers are Clifton Smith, Franklin Lance, Jeff Ruddell, Estes Pass, Mitchell Allen, Brian Ruddell, and Mathew Ruddell. Honorary pallbearers are Roy Rutledge, Don Holcomb, Larry Lovingood and the Damascus Baptist Church Deacons. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
