Sylvia Jean Ables Taylor, age 70, a lifelong resident of Gordon County, entered Heavens gates on February 20, 2016. A devoted mother, sister, and grandmother who continually put her family first. She will be remembered for her love of Elvis, professional wrestling, and her crossword puzzles.
Sylvia was born on June 16, 1945 in Gordon County to the late Quinton Ables and Nell Rich Ables. She was a member of Oostanaula Baptist Church, and was employed by Calhoun Health Care prior to her retirement.
She is survived by her two sons, Courtney Taylor and his wife Wendy, and Cameron Taylor and his wife Tracey all of Calhoun; sister, Sara Ables King of Calhoun; brother, Buddy Ables and his wife Willie of Ocoee, TN; three grandchildren, Carley Taylor, Logan McDaniel, and Cassie McDaniel; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, February 23rd at 2:00 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Lamar Hand and Reverend David Peeler officiating. Interment will follow in West Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving will be Stacey Koonce, Kenyon Trammell, Mark Bramlett, Daryl Harford, Courtney Taylor, and Cameron Taylor. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Hite, Logan McDaniel, Ryan Patania, Kevin Talley, Billy Green, and Tim Reeve.
The family will receive friends on Monday evening from 5 until 8PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
