Syble Ruth Sloan

Syble Ruth Sloan, age 88 of Resaca, passed away on Monday, April 10, 2017 at her residence. Syble was born on August 10, 1928 in Whitfield County to the late John Clint Johnston and Ollie Frances Wiggins Johnston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Garrett Sloan, three brothers and five sisters. She was a member of Resaca Church of Christ, and enjoyed sewing and making quilts. Syble loved her family and her birds. Syble is survived by her three daughters, Patsy Strickland of Dalton, Shirley Nix and her husband Ricky of Fairmount and Rebecca Beckham and her husband Don of Rome; eight grandchildren, Jada Barton, Rory Caldwell and his wife Donna, Derek Caldwell and his wife Michelle, Slade Barton and his wife Farrah, Josh Beckham and his wife Julie, Jerred Beckham, Jake Beckham and Dawn Strickland; four great-grandchildren, Lucas Beckham, Bayly Barton, Noah Caldwell and Luke Caldwell. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, April 13th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Peter Hendrick, Minister Jule Medders and Reverend Peter Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery with grandchildren serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12 PM until the funeral hour at 2 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
