Syble M. Gibson

Mrs. Syble M. Gibson, age 92 of Rome, and formerly of Gordon County. Died Wednesday November 24 in Floyd Medical Center. Syble was born August 29, 1918 in Sugar Valley, daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Moorehead Childers. She was a member of the Oothcalooga Baptist Church and prior to her retirement was employed by Crown Craft. Syble was preceded in death by her first husband, Starlin Medlin and her second husband, Mark Gibson. A son, Max Medlin, a daughter in law, Gloria Medlin and a Great grandson, Kevin Long. Survivors include her son, William Medlin of Rome. a daughter-in- law, Peggy Medlin of Calhoun. Ten grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, twenty great-great-grandchildren along with a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday November 27th at 3pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Lamar Long officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Valley Methodist Church Cemetery. Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 4 until 8pm.
