Monday, August 13, 2007 Mrs. Sybel H. Roe, age 77, of Calhoun died Sunday evening August 12th in Hamilton Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Roe was born in Gordon County on April 8, 1930 daughter of the late Delbridge Harlan Holcomb and Bessie Meadows Holcomb and had been a lifelong resident. She was a Member of the Echota Baptist Church, was retired from the Calhoun-Gordon County Library where she was a Librarian for over 30 years. Sybel was a graduate of Calhoun High School Class of 1947, attended North Georgia Business College, and was a Member of the Business and Professional Womens Club, the Sequoyah Chapter of the Eastern Star. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son Timothy Roe and her husband Charles Edwin “Eddie” Roe. Survivors include one daughter; Holly L. Roe of Birmingham, Alabama, Sister and Brother-in-law; Peggy and Roland Brown a step-sister; Ethelyn Greeson of Dalton, 2 Nieces; Nancy Bryant of Calhoun and Nan Odum Nash of Stone Mt., Ga., 3 nephews; Dwight Brown of Calhoun, Darwin McEntyre of Atlanta, and Mile Odom of Atlanta, great-nieces; Lori Nash Cosgrove, Kim McEntyre Rogers and Sara and Lindsey Odum all of Atlanta, great-nephews; Ryan Bryant and Ethan Brown both of Calhoun, Andy Nash of Atlanta, Jarred Cronan of Dalton, Ga. and Todd McEntyre of Toccoa, Ga. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday August 14th. from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Don Walters officiating. Interment will follow in the Fain Cemetery Pallbearers serving include Roland and Dwight Brown, Darwin McEntyre, Mike Odum, Steve Godwin and Charles Nash.These men are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:30 P.M. on Tuesday.
