Suzanne Pierson Hill of Calhoun died March 21, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Hon. and Mrs. C.E. Pierson of Vidalia, Georgia. She attended Vidalia High School, where she was valedictorian, and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Florida State University, where she majored in music and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Later in life, she began a successful business career with her own company, Excelsior Financial Services in Rome, Georgia. Her natural charm and strong work ethic led her to clients across the country. A devoted member of Calhoun First United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School and was an integral member of its music programs, serving in the choir, playing organ and piano, directing the childrens’ choir, and hosting many choir parties. She had a life-long love of music and was known for her perfect pitch and beautiful piano playing. She also was an avid gardener and skilled cook and baker. Whether it was starting a new company, playing a Rachmaninoff piano concerto, or baking the best caramel cake in Calhoun, she excelled at many things.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Hill. She is survived by two sons, Trey Moye of Atlanta, Georgia and Travis Moye (Kristin) of Orlando, Florida; two stepdaughters, Mardee Hill of Steinhatchee, Florida and Melanie Dixon of Atlanta, Georgia; five grandchildren, Ella and Lennon Moye of Orlando, Florida, Chris Wampler (Stefanie) of Cross City, Florida, Carly McKinney (Glenn) of Steinhatchee, Florida, and Jessica Lucariello (Neil) of Dacula, Georgia; six great-grandchildren, Kirsten, Gray and Kiptyn Wampler, Coraline McKinney, and Bella and Ryder Lucariello; and a brother, Charles Pierson (Sara Ann) of Gainesville, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 24 at Calhoun First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ed Archer officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Sunday at the church preceding the funeral. Burial will be in historic Fain Cemetery.
