Steve Mulkey, age 69, of Plainville. Died Sunday February 20th in the Floyd Medical Center.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing with his animals and his grandchildren.
Steve was born November 6, 1941 in Murray County. Son of the late J.C. and Lurleen Mulkey. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church and was attending East Gate Baptist Church at the time of his death. Steve had worked in the carpet industry for 35 years and besides his parents was preceded in death by step-father, Albert Temples and two grandsons; Kevin and Keith Stanfield.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Margaret Mulkey of Plainville. Two sons; Gary Stanfield and his wife Starlene and Jimmy Stanfield and his wife Sheila. Two daughters; Shelia Wiseman and her husband Billy and Lisa Mulkey all of Gordon County. Two brothers; Donald Mulkey and his wife Sylvia and Tony Mulkey and his wife Bonnie all of Calhoun. Two sisters; Patricia Young and her husband Wayne of Calhoun and Kathleen Watkins and her husband Johnny of Canton. Six grandchildren; Jennifer Stanfield of Tacoma, WA., McKayla Wiseman, Madison Wiseman, Megan Wiseman, Sarah Stanfield, and Dillon Logan all of Calhoun.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday February 23rd at 2pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home. With Rev. Jackie Clayton and Rev. Kenny Rogers officiating. Music will be arranged by the Rogers family. Burial will follow in Scott Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include; Daryle Hefner, Glavin Roberts, Timmy Mulkey, Billy Couch, Michael Wigginton, Mickey Young, David Mitchell, and Zachery Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will include; Mark Mitchell, C.W. Barrett, and Bo Bohannon.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 8pm.
