Steve Craig Herndon, age 50 of Calhoun, passed away on Thursday, August 11th following injuries he sustained in an automobile accident.
Steve was born on January 17, 1973, in Floyd County to the late C.W. Herndon, and Betty Craig Herndon, He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, golfing, school athletics and riding motorcycles. For many years Steve worked locally in construction, he was formerly employed by Kobelco, and recently employed by Toyo Tires. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a nephew, Alex Putnam.
He is survived by the love of his life, Dena Ford; stepson, Brandon Hicks; one sister, Joyce Stennett and her husband Tim; two brothers, Mark Herndon and his wife Angie, and Rex Herndon; nieces and nephews, Alex Haynes and his wife Katelyn, Kinsley Lovins, Indy Haynes, Adam Putnam, Damien Putnam, Zeinith Putnam, Gareth Putnam, Brenya Putnam, Chris Putnam, and Zander Putnam.
Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, August 15th at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend David Temple officiating. A burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery Near Ranger. Pallbearers serving are as follows: Dan Taylor, Mitchell Pierce, Billy Wyatt, Dwight Craig, Eric Williams, and YJ Glover.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 14th from 5PM until 8PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
