Stephen "Steve" M. Underwood

Steve Underwood, age 50 of Washington, Vermont and formerly of Floyd County, passed away on October 14, 2017 at his residence. Steve was born on November 17, 1966 in Floyd County, son of Jean Clements and the late Ted Underwood. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his step-father, Bobby Draper. Steve was formerly a Professor of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts of Lowell, and recently an Adjunt Professor at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacology and Wheelok College, where his students nominated him as the most outstanding Professor. Steve is survived by his mother, Jean Clements Underwood of Calhoun; wife, Carla Cannizzaro Underwood of Dover, NH; brother, Timothy Marshal Underwood and his wife Melissa of Hampton; niece, Emma; nephew, Ethan; and special friend, Anna Strong of Washington, Vermont. Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 21st at 2 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Skates officiating. Teresa Ray and Michael Johnson will have charge of music. Interment will follow in Sonoraville Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Zach Baker in charge of graveside rites. Pallbearers are Michael Johnson, Ken Ray, Louie McEntyre, John Wagoner, Tom Priest, and John Thomas. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
