Stephen Alan Barton

Steve passed away November 5, 2023. Born on November 2, 1951 in Atlanta,
Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence N Barton Sr. and Geneva B Barton and his brother John R. Barton.

He is survived by his brother Neal Barton (Bobbie Jo) and his sister-in-law Sandy Barton. Nieces and nephews: Laura Martin, Jeff Barton (Caitlin), Rachel Booker (Landon), Sarah Durden (Charles), and John Robert Barton Jr. (Molly). Great nieces and nephews: Zach and Chandler Martin, Brooks and Grant Barton, Caroline and Harrison Booker, Lilly and Lawson Durden, Hazel and Hank Barton.

Steve grew up in the Lakewood Heights community of Atlanta and graduated
from Fulton High School class of 1969 and University of Georgia class of 1974. He and Bob Bonner (now deceased) operated Heritage House Antiques from 1974 through 2008. Steve then worked for Delta Air Lines from 2009 to 2020 when he retired early due to the Covid pandemic.

Steve was an active member of Rockdale Baptist Church in the men’s Sunday
school class and Saturday Men’s Bible Study Group. He was always a big presence at family events having fun with his nieces and
nephews. His great nieces and nephews always enjoyed joking and playing with him on every occasion they were with him. He will be missed greatly by his family.

A memorial service will be will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 1:00 PM with visitation at 12:00 PM at Rockdale Baptist Church, 1295 Smyrna Rd. Conyers, Georgia 30094. A second memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 12, 2023 at 2:30PM with visitation at 1:30 PM at Sonoraville Baptist Church, 262 Old Fairmount Rd, Calhoun, Georgia 30701.

In lieu of flowers, at Steve’s request, contributions may be made to Rockdale
Baptist Church for Generations Following Campaign, 1295 Smyrna Rd. Conyers, Georgia 30094.
