Sid Lawrence Smith

Sunday, September 07, 2008 Mr. Sid Lawrence “Tulip” Smith age 72 of , Calhoun, died Saturday September 6, 2008 at his residence following several weeks of declining health. Mr. Smith was born in Anniston, Alabama son of the late Foster and Tommie Reagan Smith and had lived in the Calhoun area for the past 30 years. He was retired from Harbinson Walker where he was a fork lift operator and he was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother; Ralph Smith. Survivors include his wife Mary Brooks Smith of Calhoun, three daughters; Mary Louise Stinnett of Calhoun, Connie Lynn Duke of Lindale and Rebecca Ann Cagle of Calhoun, five brothers; Charles Foster Smith of Hampton, Ga., Robert Gordon Smith of Alabama, Billy Joe Smith of Carrollton, Ga., William Earl Smith of Alabama and Walter Lewis Smith of Tennessee, two sisters; Louise Stapp of Hampton, Ga. and Stella Barnes of Homer, Ga. 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 9th from the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include Gary Duke, Mark Cagle, Eric Stinnett, Johnny Brooks, Eric Stinnett, Jr and Kyle Cummings and they are asked to meet at the Thomas Funeral Home at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Monday September 8th.
