Shirley Stewart Wade

Shirley Stewart Wade, age 84 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2020 at her residence. Shirley was born on July 23, 1935 in Gordon County, GA to the late Sterling Columbus Stewart and Vonnie King Stewart. In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by: her husband, Anthony Burgess Wade; and son-in-law, Curtis Craig. Shirley was a member of the Calhoun First United Methodist Church and was active in the Women of Calhoun First. Prior to her retirement, Shirley was employed by Apache Mills for over 35 years as claims manager. Shirley is survived by: two daughters, Pam Bennett and her husband Roy of Calhoun, and Tonya Craig of Calhoun; sister, Bettie Stewart of Scottsdale, AZ; four grandchildren, Shannon Bennett and his wife Christi, Heather Guthrie and her husband Eric, Katie Persinger and her husband Cleve, and Laura Jewell and her husband Cass; twelve great-grandchildren, Olivia Guthrie, Tucker Guthrie, Rebekah Guthrie, Kyle Guthrie, Nora Kate Guthrie, Christen Guthrie, Quinn Guthrie, Ella Bennett, Lilli Bennett, Cy Persinger, Charlotte Persinger, and Warner Persinger. Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 30th at 5 PM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Ed Archer officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery. Pallbearers serving include: Shannon Bennett, Cleve Persinger, Cass Jewell, Eric Guthrie, Tucker Guthrie, and Cy Persinger. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 30th from 3 PM until the funeral hour at 5 PM at Thomas Funeral Home. The family respectfully asks all guests wear a mask for the services of Shirley Stewart Wade.
