Monday, July 18, 2011 Shelby Cook, Jr., age 66 of Calhoun, passed away July 17, 2011 in the Unites States Veterans Hospital in Nashville, TN. Shelby was born June 6, 1945 in Lafayette, GA. Son of the late Curtis Shelby Cook, Sr. and Syble Bailey Cook. Shelby was a member of New Zion Baptist Church. He was formerly owner of 7 Star Pest Control and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Survivors include; his wife, Carol Baggett Cook. Two sons; Brian Wilcox of Calhoun and Steve Wilcox of Dalton. Two daughters; Pamela Wilcox of Dalton and Lisa Elliot of Chatsworth. Two brothers; Wayne and David Cook both of Villanow. One sister, Marie Cook Evans of Villanow. Eight grandchildren; Courtney Wilcox, Dillan Wilcox, Jason Wilcox, Logan Wilcox, Austin Deaver, Tanner Deaver, Jonathan Deaver and Bryson Elliott. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at New Zion Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lamar Bearden officiating. Joann and Donald Bowen will have charge of music. Burial will follow in New Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers include; Wally Talley, Brian Wilcox, Steve Wilcox, Dillan Wilcox, Larry Bearden and Donald Bowen. The family will receive friends 4:00 - 7:00p.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at New Zion Baptist Church.
