Shelba Jean Gallman Ables, age 77 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, January 13, 2018 at Gordon Hospital.
Shelba was born on December 21, 1940 in Gordon County to Carrie Wilson and the late Jeff Gallman. She was a lifetime resident of Gordon County, office manager and secretary for the Gordon County Clerk of Court for 21 years and a member of Salem Baptist Church.
In addition to her mother Carrie Wilson, she is survived by her husband of 57 years, Joel Ables; son, Jeffery Ables of Calhoun; daughter, Stacie Ables of Calhoun; brother, Tolbert Gallman and his wife Teresa Gallman of Calhoun; sister, Sheila Hice and her husband Barry of Calhoun; grandchildren, Jarrett Ables, Lacey Jade Ables, Griff Bryant and Jenna Ables; many nieces and nephews and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Gary Hibberts, Reverend Lamar Bearden and Reverend William Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at West Union Cemetery with graveside rites conducted by Reverend Drew Elrod. Pallbearers serving are Jade Ables, Jenna Ables, Griff Bryant, Jarrett Ables, Taylor Gallmon, Austin Henderson, Randy Gallman, Brooks Gallman, Billy Hiles and Zack Gallman. Honorary pallbearers are Jerry Carter, Roy Beck Danny Carrol and Ken Conner Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends on Monday, January 15, 2018 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
