Sanford “Sandy” Stanley Wyrick, age 89 of Calhoun, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at his residence.
Sanford was born on July 17, 1927 in Roane County, TN, and was the last surviving child of six of the late Henry Evan Wyrick and Hailey Elizabeth Drusilla Bailey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Smith Wyrick. He was a member of Bethesda Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Rhinehart University Class of 1949, and was an Army Veteran of WWII. Sanford was an artist and cartoonist. He enjoyed gardening and was a master gardener.
He is survived by two daughters, Debra Kent and her husband Tom of Marietta and Teresa Andrews and her husband Dan of Somerset, KY; three grandchildren, Brett Houston and his wife Lauren Golden of Denver, CO, Eric Andrews of Somerset, KY and Christopher Carter and his wife Niki of Canton; and one great-grandson, Sean Carter.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, May 13th at 2 PM from Bethesda Baptist Church with Reverend Wesley Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors provided by the Chatsworth American Legion.
The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5 PM until 8 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
