Sandra Gayle Quinn

Gayle was born May 11, 1939, a daughter of the late, Robert Cecil Messer and Roxie Estelle Goble Messer. Also, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles J. Quinn on May 18, 1994 and a grandson, Chip James. She was retired from the City of Calhoun Police Department with 37 years of service and was the first certified female police officer. At retirement she held the rank of lieutenant and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and the Belmont Baptist Church. Gayle is survived by two sons, Scott Quinn and Sherree Falls Thornbrough of Marietta, Jeffery Quinn and his wife Lisa of Taylorsville; two daughters, Tamara Quinn and Melanie Quinn and Steve Moore both of Calhoun; two brothers, Rod Messer of Calhoun and Pat Messer of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Heath Neal, Adam Gray, Kristen Yates, Chandler Quinn, Emily Quinn, Katie Quinn, Mallory Warren, Nickolas Warren, Noah Warren, Adam Moore. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Thursday, June 2 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. John Allen officiating; burial will be in Chandler Cemetery, and pallbearers are cousins. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Animal Rescue League of NWGA at arlofnwga@gmail.com Thomas Funeral Home has charge of arrangements for the services of Sandra Gayle Quinn of Calhoun.
