Sammie Alton Booth, age 76 of Calhoun died at 1:55 PM, Friday, September 9 at his residence. He was born, August 29, 1935 in Valdosta, son of the late Louie W. Booth and Effie Lillian Powell Booth. He had previously lived in the Ranger Community for about 5 years and had worked in that community as a carpenter and builder. He has lived in Calhoun for the past 2 1/2 years, and he was a US Air Force Veteran. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elaine King Williaford and two step-sons, Richard and Jackie Halikias. Sammie was a loving father. He is survived by his wife, Marion Booth of Calhoun; one son Samuel Booth, Jr. of South Carolina and a step-son, Furman Williaford of College Park; two daughters, Brenda Day of South Carolina and Donna Williaford of College Park; one brother, Louie Hayward Booth and his wife Paula of Long Beach, Mississippi; one sister, Thelma Irene Booth Rigney of Cohoes, New York; a special niece, Cindy Elliott and her husband Don of Canton; additional nieces and nephews; step-children, Glenda Seeberger of Phoenix, Arizona, William Halikias of Cohoes, New York, Josephine Campney of Panama City, Florida, Robert Halikias of Cohoes, New York, Elmer Halikias of Phoenix, Arizona, Annie Batchelder of Cohoes, New York, Donald Halikias of Los Angeles, Russell Halikias and Stanley Halikias of Cohoes, New York, Deborah Halikias of Waterford, New York, Kathy Halikias and her husband, Harvey, and son "Little Man", of Cohoes, New York, Mary Stevens and her husband, Jeff of Calhoun; several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 13 at the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Frank Bramlett officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home preceding the funeral. Burial will be in the U.S. National Cemetery near Canton, GA. at 1:30 PM.
