Sala N. Weaver

Sala N. Weaver, age 95 of Calhoun, passed away on July 5, 2020 at Gordon Health & Rehabilitation. Sala was born on August 21, 1924 in Gilmer County, GA to the late Mr. and Mrs. Ashel LaFayette Weaver. In addition to his parents, Sala was also preceded in death by eleven siblings. Sala was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and worked as a mechanic for Smith Equipment. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of WWII. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during his service in the final few months of the European campaign. He was a member of Calhoun Church of Christ. Sala is survived by: his wife, Lela Mae Weaver; son, Larry Weaver and his wife, Debbie; two daughters, Brenda Weaver and Lorraine Smith and her husband, Steve; brother, C.L. Weaver; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Weaver family has chosen to have a private graveside service to celebrate the life of Sala Weaver. Pallbearers serving include: Michael Smith, Patrick Goble, Brian Weaver, Justin Weaver, Steve Smith, and Richard Weaver.
