Ruth Turman

Sunday, December 30, 2007 Mrs. Ruth Hughes Turman, age 83 of 416 Waterford Drive, Calhoun, formerly of the Sugar Valley Community, died Saturday December 29th. at the residence following several months of declining health. Mrs. Turman was born in Gordon County on August 27th. 1924 daughter of the late Thomas E. and Rose Esther Hall Hughes and had been a lifelong resident. She was a homemaker and a member of the Sugar Valley Church of God. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Alton “Suggs” Turman and a brother James B. Hughes. Survivors include one sister Ruby Worley of Calhoun, a sister-in-law; Catherine Hughes of Calhoun, nieces and nephews; Mike Hughes of Calhoun, Lynn Hughes of Mairetta, Linda Haggard of Calhoun and Lamar Worley also of Calhoun. Graveside and interment services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Monday December 31st. from the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery with Rev. Dwayne Shadix and Rev. Howard Duvall officiating. Pallbearers serving include Lamar Worley, Lynn and Mike Hughes, Jerry Turman, Ron Haggard, Thomas Worley and Tad Worley. Honorary pallbearers include Roy Aaron, Shag Worley, Norman Malone and Paul Sneed and all these gentlemen are asked to meet at the Sugar Valley Baptist Cemetery at 1:45 P.M. Monday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. today (Sunday).
