Mrs. Ruth Nichols, passed away Monday September 5th in Morning Pointe Assisted Living.
Ruth was born April 26, 1921 in Gordon County. Daughter of the late John Robbins and Laura McBrayer Robbins. She was a lifetime resident of Gordon County and a member of the Calhoun First Baptist Church as well as the Ruth Sunday School Class. Ruth was a graduate of Berry College and taught school for 17 years before going to work with her husband at Nichols Hardware where she kept the books. She was married to Claude Nichols who preceded her in death in 1997.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Elder and her husband Darryl of Rome. One son, Jerry Nichols and his wife Nancy of Calhoun. One sister, Vivian Langston. Four grandchildren, Brian Nichols and his wife Tanya, Keith Nichols and his wife Dana, Erin Osben and her husband Teo, and Allison Holloway and her husband Jeff. Three great-grandchildren, Jude Osben, Ana Osben, and Sara Holloway also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday September 7th at 3pm from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Dr. Bert Vaughn officiating. Burial will follow in Fain Cemetery.
Pallbearers serving include, Brian Nichols, Keith Nichols, Jim Balliew, Jeff Holloway, Rick Holsomback, and Derek Dickard. Honorary Escorts will be members of the Ruth Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 until 7pm.
