Ruth Marie Fox

Ruth Marie Parker Fox, age 86 of Calhoun, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, April 24, 2015 at Calhoun Health Care after an extended illness. Ruth was born on December 8, 1928 and was the daughter of the late William Virgil Parker and Jessie C. Brackett Parker. She was one of the original members of Belmont Baptist Church since 1952, where she served faithfully until her illness. She was a successful business woman who owned Ruth’s Fabrics for over 20 years. She was a talented seamstress who used her talents for loved ones and her church. Even after retiring from the fabric store she continued to work at the VAC, Adairsville Welcome Center and the Lantern at Morning Pointe. She enjoyed serving meals at the Senior Citizens and spending time with her friends. In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband and the love of her life, Hill Fox to whom she was married for 52 years; brothers, Claude Parker and Gene Parker; sisters, Irene Ward, twin sister Ruby Walraven, Thelma Schnitzspahn; and a granddaughter, April Leigh Fox. She is survived by her daughter, Ann Dixon and her husband Perrion; son, Dan Fox and his wife Debbie; grandchildren, Dawn and Cary Wiley, Mandy Dixon, Jeremy Dixon, Josh and Erica Fox, Matt Fox and Katie and Joe DeRario; great-grandchildren, Presley Wiley, Aubryn DeRario and Emerson Fox; brothers, Johnny Parker and his wife Glenice and Kenneth Parker and his wife Paula; sisters, Ada Silvers, Sue Bone and Avie Autry and her husband Troy; a number of nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to give special thanks to Calhoun Health Care Center, Administration, nurses and CNAs who have been part of Ruth’s family and caregivers for the past three and a half years. They would also like to thank Transitions Hospice for great care they have given to Ruth. Funeral Services will be conducted on Monday, April 27th at 10:00 AM from the Chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with the Reverend Wesley Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in Fain Cemetery with Jason Chamber officiating. Pallbearers serving include John Kennon, Jimmy Goble, Larry Ward, Jason Chambers, Steve Bone, Randall Fox and Mitch Talley. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 4:30 until 7:00 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.
