Ruth Baker Champion

Ruth Baker Champion, age 90 of Calhoun, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2017 at Gordon Health Care. Ruth was born on April 20, 1927 to the late Festus Baker and Belle Bradley. She was a retired school teacher and a lifetime member of Farmville United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Earl Benjamin Champion; sisters, Alta Rogers and Mary Jane Greene; brothers, Bradley Baker and Robert Baker; granddaughter, Anna C. Dutton. She is survived by her sons, Robert Champion and his wife Lorraine, Steve Champion and his wife Wanda; daughter, Kay Champion Dutton and her husband Charles; grandchildren, Leaha Champion Gathings, Shayne Champion, Jason Champion and Kane Dutton; great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Thomas Funeral Home with Reverend Guy Kent officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday. December 28, 2017 from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour at Thomas Funeral Home.
