Russell Lew Gilbert

Russell Lew Gilbert, age 82 of Calhoun, GA, passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024 at AdventHealth Gordon.

Russell was born on November 17, 1941 in Burke, South Dakota, the son of the late Stanley Gilbert and Grace Juran Gilbert. He was a graduate of South Dakota State University. Russell was an avid car collector enthusiast and enjoyed racing cars. He was a past president and judge of the Mustang Car Club.

Russell is survived by: his wife, Elaine Krumm Gilbert; four children, Jodi Gilbert Brumlow and her husband Terry, Julie Gilbert Williams and her husband Erik, Aaron Gilbert, and Christina Gilbert Frierson and her husband Kennedy; grandchildren, Lindsey Brumlow Moss and her husband Ryan, Jackson Brumlow and his wife Lauren, Anna Grace Williams, Madeleine Frierson, Jake Williams, and Parker Frierson; great-grandchildren, Emerson Moss, Jack Brumlow, Reece Brumlow, and Miller Moss; and sister, Joyce Gilbert Jones. 

The family will receive friends on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5 PM until 7 PM at Thomas Funeral Home.

A celebration of the life of Russell will be held at a later date in South Dakota.
